Traditional Tomato Sauce
This sauce will be so useful as a base for many other dishes, including pizza’s and calzones, lasagna’s, baked pastas, rosé sauce and more!

  1. Roughly chop onion and garlic.
  2. On medium, heat one 1 tbsp olive oil or grapeseed oil in a large pot. To this add onions and cook 3 minutes. Then add garlic and cook a further 3 minutes.
  3. Add whole tomatoes to onion mixture. Use 1 cup of water to rinse out tin and add to tomatoes. Stir well.
  4. With an immersion blender (or alternatively a blender) purée tomatoes till fine and smooth.
  5. Add salt, oregano, basil, 1 tbsp olive oil
  6. Lower heat and simmer for 4 hours. Add more salt and/or pepper to taste.
  7. Before serving add last tbsp of olive oil. Stir well and serve.
